Keep Your Car Squeaky Clean for the Holidays

During the holiday season, it seems like we’re constantly in the car going somewhere. But along the way to school plays, gift shopping, grandma’s house, and work, our car gets filled with junk and gunk.

Luckily, there are some simple ways to get the interior of your car sparkling clean during the busiest time of the year!

You will need:
• A garbage bag
• A plastic bin (or two)
• Baby wipes OR a white vinegar/ water mixture in an empty spray bottle

-First things first, you need to declutter the inside of your car. Take the garbage
bag out to the car with you and throw away all the trash inside of your car.
Make sure to look in every crack and crevice that a little one might place trash!

-Once you’ve thrown all the garbage away, you’ll need to get a plastic bin to put
all the non-trash items like lipstick, stuffed animals, etc. Another plastic bin
might be useful for those items that need to stay in the car, such as travel
games or maps. Set aside.

-When all the clutter is gone, you should give your car and your mats
a thorough vacuuming. If you don’t have a hand held vacuum, I often find that
a lot of automatic car washes have a free vacuum station right
outside of it!

-When your car is completely free of anything except the car parts themselves,
you can finally start to clean. Mix 1/2 part water and 1/2 part
vinegar in a spray bottle for household usage and spray on the dashboard,
steering wheel, and door handles. Let set for 30 seconds and wipe with a clean
towel. Baby wipes also work wonderfully for wiping down these particular
parts of the interior.

-Before you clean the interior, make sure your car doesn’t have specific
instructions on what cleaning agents to avoid while cleaning. Typically,
I recommend that same vinegar and water mixture for leather interiors.
For cloth interiors, a quick wipe down with a warm, moist rag should take
care of most stuck-on foods or gunk. For more severe car interior stains,
you might want to go ahead and call KIWI services for a professional
automobile interior cleaning.

And there you have it! Your car should look brand new on the inside. Some helpful hints to keep your car clean throughout the rest of the holiday season (and the year) are to always keep a bin in the trunk of your car for any easy place to store groceries or presents, and to buy great car organizational tools like these from daytimer.com http://bit.ly/vD3MDW !

Remember, the cleaner your car is, the less stressed you’ll be and the more you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the season!
